Position Title: Finance Director
Reports To: Executive Director
Location: 1930 Glenwood Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55405
Primarily in-office with potential flexibility for hybrid work.

The mission of the City of Lakes Community Land Trust (CLCLT) is to create community ownership that preserves affordability and inclusivity.
Compensation
$85,000 - $110,000, commensurate with experience.
This is a full-time position, with some evenings and weekends required.

Position Overview
The CLCLT Finance Director will play a vital role in supporting the financial well-being of the organization while ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Reporting to the Executive Director, this position requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities
Accounts Payable

Initiate payment for bills, ensure proper account coding, supporting documentation, and supervisor approvals.

Process disbursements using paper checks and electronic methods bi-monthly, with ad hoc disbursements as needed.

Assist with program expense reconciliations monthly.

Maintain vendor records, contracts, and W-9 files.

Issue year-end 1099 reporting.
Accounts Receivable
-
Support the CLCLT staff in preparing monthly and ad hoc invoices and reimbursement requests.

Prepare quarterly lease fee statements.
-
Maintain member records and contracts.
-
Produce aged receivable reports and distribute them to appropriate staff for review.
Loan Administration
-
Record cash receipts in the DownHome loan servicing program.
-
Prepare and distribute loan statements bi-monthly.
-
Export loan activity to accounting software bi-monthly.
-
Maintain borrower records and respond to borrower inquiries.

Issue year-end 1098 reporting.
Audit and Compliance

Assist with the annual financial audit and other funder compliance reporting requirements as needed.

Prepare year-end closing entries.

Prepare quarterly disbursement reports and distribute them for approval.

Assist with contract management and performance schedules.

Assist with budget and forecast preparation.
Payroll and Human Resources
-
Assist with employee recruitment, onboarding processes, and benefit management.

Handle journal entries, reporting, and file maintenance.

Prepare time allocation reports quarterly or as needed.
Month-End Close

Prepare month-end journal entries, including prepaid expenses, cost allocation adjustments, and various banking-related entries.

Conduct monthly reconciliation for bank accounts and credit cards and distribute reports for approval.

Prepare monthly financial reports for the Executive Director and other team members.
Other Responsibilities

Facilitate Finance Committee Meetings bi-monthly and prepare related agendas, minutes, and resolutions.

Participate in a minimum of three CLCLT-sponsored special events per year.

Perform other duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
-
Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.

Knowledge of accrual-based accounting and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, strong Excel skills, database/CRM, and accounting software.

Experience in the nonprofit sector.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines.

Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, and DownHome Solutions.

Familiarity with grant and contract management.

Ability to travel for work-related meetings and events.
-
Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends for special events.

Proactive, self-starting attitude with a strong commitment to results.
