Little Earth Homeownership Initiative

Last week, the CLCLT participated in a ground breaking for the kick-off of the Little Earth Homeownership Initiative.  Over the past 10 years, the CLCLT has partnered on several homeownership developments accross Minneapolis.  I don’t know if I’ve ever felt as good about a development as I am about working with Little Earth of United Tribes on the Little Earth Homeownership Initiative.  The first phase of this delelopment includes the rehab of one existing home and the construction of four new homes just south of Litte Earth in South Minneapolis.  While the homes are open for purchase to any income qualified household, we continue to market heavily within the American Indian community and are hopeful residents currently at Little Earth will be some of the first buyers of these great homes.

Several partners (Little Earth, GMHC, Woodlands Bank), funders (Tribal funds, City of Minneapolis, MH Housing, Family Housing Fund, Northwest Area Foundation) and stakeholders (residents, MHP, several elected officials) have all come together to turn this opportunity into something real.  We’re looking forward to sharing progress on this development over the next several months.
